Belonging Is the Breakthrough
Community has always been a driving force in my life. It's what led me to becoming a teacher, coach, and founder of That Exactly. I know firsthand that finding belonging is not always easy, especially when you're neurodivergent.
For many ADHD and AuDHD adults, making and maintaining friendships can feel like an uphill battle. It's not that we don't want connection. It's that so many things get in the way.
- Rejection Sensitive Dysphoria (RSD)
- Imposter syndrome
- A lifetime of negative self-talk
- Masking and social fatigue
Dr. Ned Hallowell says it best: "Fellowship is the safest and most effective drug we have."
Human connection is not optional for people with ADHD. It's essential. Community helps buffer against stress and emotional dysregulation and supports identity, belonging, and resilience.
